Le Tavole Iguvine, testo rituale in lingua umbra, è una tra le fonti più importanti sulla religione e le istituzioni dell’Italia antica e della stessa Roma. Il volume ne analizza formazione e co-stituzione testuale, anche nelle premesse ideologiche della sua produzione; partendo dalla struttura interna del testo perviene all’interpretazione sia delle forme di lingua (aspetti gram-maticali, proposte etimologiche), sia dei contenuti rituali (preghiere, cerimonie, sacrifici).

The Iguvine Tablets contain a ritual text in Umbrian language that represent one of the most important sources on the religion and the institutions of ancient Italy, including Rome. The volume examines its formation and textual constitution, giving also notice of its ideological premises; starting from the inner structure of the text, it interprets the forms of the language (grammatical aspects, etymological hypothesis), and the ritual contents (prayers, ceremonies, offerings).
