L’interrogativo nasce dalla tradizione cristiana, ma si spinge all’essenza stessa delle fedi. If the novelty of Christianity consists in making visible what is invisible, then a question arises for the historian: do believing and consequent seeing produce historically verifiable knowledge? The que-stion originates from the Christian tradition but concerns the essence of faiths. The volume presents four lines of inquiry and some cases to explore: Marian apparitions, the heads of Saints Peter and Paul in the Lateran basilica, miracles in ancient Gnosticism, Islamic circumambulation.
